You may select the subject for your field exercise using one of the following three sources: 1) Your own company, 2) A phone interview with another company, 3) A virtual tour through the internet You should solicit the consent and participation of an individual employed in management of either a service or a manufacturing organization. The individual must be affiliated with some aspect of production or operations within the company. Report criteria Your final report must include at a minimum the following information: · An introduction providing background information on your visit, your company and your host if relevant, · Your report must relate your observations and findings to the material we are discussing this term. For example, you might want to discuss their forecasting methods and relate them to the methods we have discussed and learned. If a treatment of the facility location strategy is appropriate, you can relate their location strategy to those we have discussed and learned, · Part of your report needs to address the Ten Critical Decisions of operations management and how your company addresses these. This discussion may be in a variety of forms. You can develop your report around these Ten Critical Decisions, you could simply have a separate section discussing them, etc. · As part of your report, you must demonstrate the application of at least one of the analytical techniques that we have or will study this term. This could be a forecasting model, scheduling model, productivity, project management, etc. This demonstration must include an appropriate analytical example rather than just a discussion of the application. · You are to also comment on and critique the present practices, and suggest what else could be done to improve the operation. Remember that even a farm in a rural area is an operation and can be evaluated as such. · You are to include a conclusion summarizing the key points of your paper. · As part of your conclusions, include a discussion on how the course content and your field exercise experiences relate to your own professional life. For example, you can discuss how you will be able put the learning from the course content and field exercise into practice or how it will enable you to become more valuable in your current position. Or you might want to discuss how you could have used the course content in the past. · An Executive Summary is optional, feel free to include one if you would like. Introductory Background: Currently, Max (I) am employed with one of the Company in food Industry which provide services to its customer for its food- chain outlet and Marketing Promotions Segment. I Oversee the Operations Management which involves various functions starting from requirement of seating plan, resources, managing admin facilities, procuring resources, material and much more. All the Operation functions are interlinked in this kind of Industry. This stores has outlet chain in several countries and
strong Brand image. Brand is run by it good reputation because of it best quality products and unique marketing strategies. Due to its high visibility and reachability in public, its sales are 60% higher than average industry competition. In very recent past, they have expanded few of the outlets into multi chain outlet which includes all variety of grocery options, fresh flowers. There are several chains within the outlet such as Veg Produce, Meat outlets. All chains handle its own operations which involve all the aspect starting from Inventory, employee management, technology, quality. Operations also interact with other management function which include legal & Compliance, Human Resource, Finance and Marketing.
Let’s start with understanding on how Company’s Operations Management play vital part in any organisation does. There can be ample examples for goods and services around you. For example any book you are considering to read or chair around, any medical hospital, manufacturing factory. Concept of Operation Management is dependent on Operating System, which means collaborating various resources available within the system that can be utilized by any organisation. One of the most important objective of Operations Management is:

· Utilisation of Resources
Above two parameter hold relevance for all the industry involved with Goods, Services, Supply or Transport. Usually all organisation try and aim higher to achieve set standards, goals, cost analysis benefit, however organisations employ Operational Manager for overseeing all these aspects.

The Correct and right management of Capacity is the another responsibility of Management and Operations teams
Capacity Planning must always have few basis such as market trends, expansion, future needs, in mind. This is huge task as this impacts the costing in the company and also leads to investment in assets. There can either be long term capacity planning or short term Capacity Planning. Efficient Planning can be done by consideration to: Facilities, Process, Human Factors, and Operational Factors.
Basis, above, In order to relate with the Company I am employed with Capacity planning shall involve Identifying future needs of outlet, understanding the existing facilities. This also covers planning about expanding in terms of plant / new location.
