Your company has hired you as an HR consultant to assist in increasing their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Your primary role for this assignment is to assist in creating a new diversity, equity, and inclusion department within the organization you choose. One of the main tasks for this role is to create a job announcement for 3 key positions within the organization, however, you have to make sure that your announcement is written with the mindset of wanting to attract individuals who would fall under the protected person’s category outlined in chapter 19. For this assignment, you will
first
need to create your plan for how you will target the selected group of individuals you hope would be willing to apply for the position (who).
Secondly, you will describe where you will choose to market the job announcements, thinking about the groups of individuals you are wanting to hire.
Thirdly, you will need to identify which 3 positions you will need to hire for the new department. You will need an executive-level position, a director level, and a manager for the department. You get to choose the company you would like to work with.
Chosen Company: Habitat for Humanity
For this assignment, you will do a write-up about the above-mentioned statement. In your write-up make sure to include the reasons why you chose to target each of the specific individuals that you plan to attract. For example, if you plan to target a minority for the director-level position, explain why you think a minority would be a good person for the role. In addition, keeping in mind the target group you want to attract, discuss where you would most likely place the announcement in an effort to recruit (i.e. what websites would you place the announcement, what types of events would you attend such as job fairs, etc. Also, for the three positions, you will create the position titles for each of the jobs you are seeking to hire for, therefore, make sure to state what the titles will be. Your write-up needs to be at least one page (no cover page or reference page).
