The poem 'It Couldn't Be Done' has a strong message about never losi
ng. The narrator advises the readers not to be deterred by the defeatism of everyone else. This poem is about the perseverance and self-motivation that require one to glide through every difficulty to attain the desired goal. The narrator claims that several individuals have achieved tasks that were considered unattainable once they devoted their time to them. The narrator contends that if individuals approach work with a positive outlook and the determination to succeed, they will be influential (Guest 365).
The poem starts with someone saying to the protagonist "couldn’t be done." The protagonist states that he cannot say for certain until he gives it an attempt. He then approaches the work with confidence and a positive attitude, which leads to a positive outcome. He ends up acknowledging himself as competent. The poem's next stanza commences correspondingly to the first: somebody informs the protagonist that work is inconceivable, and he keeps fighting yet once again.
