You will be required to use the range of self-analysis and self-assessment tools to support your leadership development, that have been covered in the subject. Introduction
Leadership is one of the most important traits that a successful managing team must have in their organisation. With a skilled leader the organisation will be able to achieve their goals and objective in an efficient manner. In this reflective essay I will discuss regarding the analysis I had over the leadership abilities and the self-awareness, which will help me to identify the areas of improvement as to pursue my career as a good leader. Further I will discuss regarding the leadership theories that will help me to understand the manner, in which leadership is being practiced by the managers in the organisation.
Theories of Leadership
In an organisation there are different kinds of work that takes place on daily basis. Therefore, to manage these works in an efficient manner and to meet the deadlines of the scheduled work the managers are there to monitor and examine the continuous work. The leadership aspect of the manager that he/ she possess is the ability to confidently and effectively manage a team of workers as to achieve the desired organisational goal. Ruben and Gigliotti (2017) have added that the leadership trait is the individual’s extent, to which they can able effectively practice and follow their leadership.
There are different kinds of leadership theories, which define the process, in which the leadership can be practiced by the managers. Barnes (2019) has discussed the different types of leadership theories such as the transformational leadership theory and the behavioural leadership theory. The behavioural theory of leadership describes the manner, in which the leaders behave with others such as their immediate subordinates, management and the customers. The manager’s behaviour must always be working together in group as that will increase the motivation among the employees and they have a sense of self worth to contribute towards the work. Bryant (2019) have further discussed about another type of theory, which is the transformational theory.
