1) The states of a Markov process are the vertices of the unit square, and transitions occur from each corner x to another corner y at a rate equal to 1/d(x,y), where d(x,y) is the distance from x to y. Find (a) the A matrix; (b) the stationary distribution; (c) the Kolmogorov forward equations (don't need to solve)


2) Find the transition matrix P(t) for a 3 state pure death process, where individuals die at constant rate m; i.e. transitions from state 2 to state 1 occur at rate 2m, and from state 1 to state 0 at rate m. No other transitions are possible.
