Activity 1.1
Key Responsibilities of PCBU
PCBU which is also known as the person conducting business and undertaking have certain responsibilities, some of the key responsibilities include-
· Their main responsibility includes the provision and maintenance of a safe work environment.
· The provision and maintenance of safe plan
ts and structures.
· They need to look after the provision of adequate facilities for the welfare of the workers and also ensuring access to the facilities is maintained.
· The PCBU needs to check on the provision of instruction, training, information, and supervision in order to protect the person from any kind of risks (Bluff, 2017).
Expectation Regarding Due Diligence in the Workplace by Officers, Workers and Other Persons
In the workplace, there is a certain kind of due diligence that is expected from the officers, workers, and other persons. Some of the most prime ones include-
· They must ensure maintaining the up to date knowledge regarding the work health and safety matters as it is related to their specific operation.
· They should be proficient to understand the nature of the business and its hazards and risks.
· They must be able to ensure that the business uses appropriate resources and measures to minimise the risks related to the health and safety associated with the business.
· They also need to ensure that the business has the process and it implements these processes to comply with the WHS regulations.
· And at the end, the officers and the workers need to ensure that all these steps have been carried out proficiently (Flohm, 2020).
List of Workplace Tasks in ECEC Services-
When a PCBU tends to check that hazard identification procedures had been carried out according to the organizational policies and procedures the list of the workplace tasks in the ECEC Service Includes-

· Checking of the common hazards and risks.
Activity 1.2
Hierarchy of Risk Controls
The hierarchy of the risk controls comprises of the six levels of the control measures-
Elimination- this focus is imposed on completely eliminating the risks so that the hazard does not exist anymore and cannot cause any kind of harm in the meanwhile.
Substitution- in the hierarchy of the risk controls substitution is considered as the second-best option as it includes substituting and replacing the risk or hazard with a different one that does not include much risk.
Isolation- isolation in the hierarchy of Risk controls involves separating the risk from the people or as many people as possible.
Engineering Controls- this step includes any kind of engineering change to the situation such as adjustment or alteration to the machines or landscape.
Administrative Controls- in the risk control hierarchy this is one of the most proficient steps as it lessens the risk by helping make people more aware of the hazards.
Personal Protective Equipment- in the list of the hierarchy of risk controls the PPE control is rated as the lowest and it includes wearing and relying on any type of personal protective equipment.
The WHS regulation requires this hierarchy to be worked through when managing potential risks.
