TASK 1.
Earlier from my management master’s days I have been looking forward to open up a business of my own, it small. I named my business as “Catch up”. It is a small e-commerce secto
r which focuses on daily products used by the customers by offering them at great prices with discounts. The idea is to connect all the local shops and sellers of a particular area and serve the customers throughout the region. Management is the key factor that drives the company’s objectives in a systematic manner through planning, organizing, control and directing (Noe et al. 2017). It’s a small business of 5 people and the manager will be me for the initial stage till the company gets on the growth track. A manager is a person who looks after all the process inside a company to help it grow. Hiring new recruits, planning and mitigation of issues, cost of production etc.
The four functions to management are namely Organizing, Planning, control as well as directing. According to Nicholas and Steyn (2017), this four functions are important as it drives the company as well as the employees in working towards achieving the same goal. Planning requires a sharp mind wherein the person will be responsible for thinking about the company and its objectives. By understanding the goals, it is important to develop a proper strategy and structure for the company to help achieve it. This is called planning where thinking and analysing capabilities goes hand in hand to create an organized structure of the process.
By setting and defining goals it will be clear that for what are we working for and then brainstorming will help us gathering ideas and work towards the improvement of the business in the recent market (Scott et al. 2018). Engaging in activities to know about our customers, which products are most desirable and how is the trend of online buying. Having the data will help in creating future plans to avoid loss and to maximize profit.
Organizational structure for my company will be very straight forward, as it is a small company as of now, few dedicated people for the particular roles will be assigned, such as CEO, manager, software engineer, Fraud and compliance. Working together as a team will impact greatly on the performance as everybody will be working vigorously towards achieving the same goal. It will increase efficiency and productivity. Customer Service and engagement will be carried out by revising targets and offering huge discounts and interaction of customers with the company.
TASK 2.
Organisational culture is expressed through inner workings, self-image, future expectations and the way one interacts with the outside world. Organisational culture like any other culture develops by sharing beliefs, customs, attitudes and written as well as unwritten rules that have been passed down and developed with time (Anitha, 2016). The organisational culture also takes into consideration the organisation’s values, norms and visions. It can be defined as the underlying assumptions beliefs, ways of interacting and values that add to the unique psychological and social environment in an organisation.
Patel et al. (2015) stated Edgard Schein's three levels of culture offers a significant approach to understand and define organisational culture by dividing it...
