Ans 1. After listening to the poem what stood out for me hope to change and become better. There is a strong sense to collaborate beyond boundaries since we need to move beyond one’s personal prejudice and difference so that we can build a better world for generations to come. Country need to overlook the apparent differences and unite against any propaganda.
Ans 2. Although I haven’t encountered such poetry in the past but the underlying message from poem has been common. I have witnessed different ways people expressing the importance of embracing the difference and leveraging the unity in diversity. Many movies like Crash in 2005 or speech of the Mr Barack Obama or the recent discussions taking place in various corporates like AT&T after Black Life Matter incidents came into picture. All these separate incident offers us plethora of example that people of different domain has to contribute about politics and the democracy.
Ans3. After analyzing the poem, I would like to answer the shoulder we stand for is embracing people who believes in diversity and progress. We stand for our countrymen, is for the people and generation to come. Furthermore, we stand with people who believe that this country will not hurt anyone rather will act as a catalyst to bring everyone together.
Ans4. If I were in place of Ms. Gorman and given the opportunity to speak my mind in the form of poem, I would like to add few other points along with the growing racial discrimination and injustice in the country. For instance, I would like to incorporate points like increase in the employment opportunities for people based on merit and performance. Secondly, I would like to promote the importance of education for each and every sector in the country. Lastly, would take the chance to encourage many women leaders and budding girls to come forward in each domain.
Ans 5. As per the poem "The Hill We Climb" symbols of perfect union while the country is struggling with very serious issues like racial discrimination, power struggle and country isolation. I think these particular images are essential to the poem's meaning as it shows the celebration of inauguration of Joe Biden as 46th President of the USA. A hill represents a journey which is against the wind and conventional flow and it is essential to reach the top. Today, this hill represent grave problem of divide amongst people in the name of religion, color, age, sex and gender. We need to unite together to eradicate any and all such kind of discrimination.
Ans6. I want to begin this review with a powerful quote by Lord Buddha, "We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we Think". This quote has always stuck with me and guided me to seek light even in the darkest days. After listening the poem twice "The Hill We Climb" by Ms. Gorman, I was...
