Summary
Hugman (2008) in the paper titled “Ethics in a world of difference. Ethics and Social Welfare” states that international statements with respect to ethics concerning social work have been effectively criticized in actually imposing the western values within the contexts of non-Western nature. Two of the forms with respect to the stated criticism could be determined amongst the recent available literature – one being the stronger one in the manner that the same calls in each of the cultural context in generating the relevant set of values & the other one is qualified one in the manner that the same seeks for basic form of common values the same calls in them for being suitably interpreted using appropriate cultural sensitivity. These arguments in essence raise the specific problem by way of notions concerning human rights to be foundation with respect to ethics concerning social work. As response to the same, overall plurality concerning values is suitably examined as well as the concerned concept pertaining human capabilities are suggested in forming the basis with respect to the values concerning differences of cross cultural nature. The overall implications concerning the stated notions are effectively explored by way of employing suitable examples with respect to responses concerning domestic violence. The study proposes that the approach of this nature can be highly beneficial in forming the basis with respect to future context dialogue at an international level concerning the ethics of social work.
