The proprietor has been reluctant to upgrade the manual system used in “Booksforyou”. But now the proprietor has started to realise that he needs to do something to stay competitive in the market place. Your company has been approached by “Booksforyou” to complete an analysis and quotation for the upgrade of their information and data system. Located in Melbourne CBD, organisation has 2 offices located within 1000 meters away from each other. Office 1 has two floors and currently 10 staff members are working including IT department, Library and Customer Support. Office 2 has only 1 floor and 5 members, mostly this office is used for Sales and business meeting. At the moment, there is only desktop workstations are available however client is looking for upgrading all workstations with laptops in Office 1 and replace all outdated workstations with new desktops. This is currently used for their point of sales. They currently have an Excel 2007 workbook on one PC that is shared. This work book contains a spreadsheet for customers, a spreadsheet for books, a spreadsheet for suppliers and a spreadsheet for books on hold. “Booksforyou” has estimated that the potential growth of the company will increase at a rate of 28% for the next 3 years and they have possible plans to open a third store in a different location in approximately 18 to 24 months’ time.
