Scenario


Your organization has recently acquired another company that collects and stores a very large amount of consumer data that will be of value to your organization. As a result of this acquisition, there is more data available than your organization currently has the capacity to analyze and maintain. A solution has been proposed to set up a cloud environment to host, maintain, and analyze the large volume of information that has been collected. The solution will need to be ongoing, as the acquisition will continue to supply large amounts of unstructured data.


In your role as a data analyst, you will give an overview of why a cloud environment has been chosen over a traditional one, including capacity, costs, the benefits and drawbacks of cloud computing, and the risks and benefits of the transition. As part of this overview, you will deliver an explanation to management and financial officers of what big data is and why it requires different data analysis methods than the ones you and your coworkers have been using so far.

Use the feasibility proposal template linked in the Supporting Materials section to prepare your recommendations for moving to the cloud. You may select the industry of your choice to use in completing the feasibility proposal. As you complete each section of the template, consider the following rubric criteria:
