Lossy compression techniques compress more data than lossless compression algorithms, but at the expense of losing data that cannot be restored. Lossy compression methods are commonly employed for audio and video data, where the loss in quality is bearable and frequently undetectable.Lossless compression methods, on the other hand, do not compress as much but do not lose any data, implying that compressed information may be precisely rebuilt back into its uncompressed form. Lossless compression methods are used for material that must preserve integrity, such as binaries, text documents, and source code.
