Overview of the case
HIH was one of top insurance
companies of Australia until the year 2001, when it suddenly went into liquidation.
Various investigations were conducted by APRA, ASIC, Royal Commission and the Courts to find out the causes and reasons behind the failure of the company.
It was revealed in investigations that directors and officials of the company had breached their duties and there were many deficiencies in the corporate governance system of the company.
