ASSESSMENT TASK REQUIREMENTS Assessment task 2 is a group project. You will create a range book for Spring/Summer 2018/19 for Cotton On This range book will include: DEPARTMENT RESEARCH: Choose a department within Cotton On and visit one store which features your department. (eg. Women’s, Men, Boys, Girls, Body, Sleep.) a) Identify the current trends, themes, colours, graphics, materials and silhouettes featured and support your findings with photos and annotation (Bullet Points). b) Identify your department’s direct and indirect competitors. Visit these stores and support your findings with photos and annotation (Bullet Points). TREND RESEARCH: Using forecasting tools, such as WGSN, fashion blogs, etc. source a minimum of 2 trends relevant to your department. a) Investigate the current trends, themes, colours, graphics, materials and silhouettes forecasted that are relevant to your department and support your findings with images and annotation (Bullet Points). b) Define the trend you will adapt to your range. Include specific images which form the basis of your range. Eg. Themes, colours, graphics, materials and silhouettes and support with images and annotation (Bullet Points). MOOD BOARD: Create a Mood Board which communicates your theme. a) Select images. (These could include fashion or non-fashion images) which support your trend forecast and defined trend, reflecting your chosen colours. b) Arrange your images in a creative and engaging way to communicate your trend. c) Include – Company name, range title, season and year. COLOUR PALETTE and GRAPICS APPLICATION Include the final colours chosen from your trend research which will be used in your range. Colour palette must be sourced from WGSN. Choose colours which suit your brand and department; you can alter tints or shades if necessary. a) Select 6 – 10 Colours. Graphic colours may be additional. Remember to include neutrals, ideally within your basics to increase merchandised options. b) Identify the Pantone TPC or TPX number for each colour, and creatively name your colours to reflect your theme. c) Colour will be applied to your final garments and may need to be altered to suit. FABRICS Source appropriate fabrics, textiles and trimmings, which will be used within your range. Refer to your initial research and use your Fashion Materials Folder as a reference. a) Include fabric swatches (no smaller than 6cm x 6cm) for ALL garments. Presentation should be neat and attached only at the top of swatch with double sided tape with warp/wales running vertically and technical face upright. b) Ensure you have examples of both knits and woven. (swatches can be any colour) c) Include fabric name, specific construction, and fibre content with each swatch. CAPSULE RANGE Final range is to consist of 10 to 15 garments and must include – · Overview in black and white.(Pyramid) · Basic garments – with 3 style options · Fashion garments – with 2 to 3 style options · Directional fashion garments – with 1 to 2 style options · Include Style information – style name, style number, size range, colour and fabrication · Demonstrate how your range can be merchandised (min 3 pages) · Merchandise range in planogram showing all garments. eg. Table and wall fixtures. Only the front view of each garment is required; unless a ‘design feature’ is on the back. In this case both front and back should be shown. The actual design of your garments should be reflective of your trend research Your range will need to include graphics (placement prints) yardage prints and slogans appropriate to your trend.
