Each answer should be about 200-250 words and is worth 20 points; partial credit may be given. 1. Cicero’s Oratory. How at two different periods in his life did Cicero use oratory as a political weapon against someone he regarded an enemy of the state? Explain which moment you think was more admirable. 2. Cleopatra. As Plutarch and Shakespeare portray her, Cleopatra possessed multiple talents/strengths. Which do you think was her most important talent/strength—and how did she use it with greatest success? What then caused her downfall: was it her misuse of a talent/strength, or did she have a fault/weakness that led to her demise? 3. Shakespeare’s A & C. Describe one scene in Shakespeare’s Antony & Cleopatra when Cleopatra appears to be surely faithful to Antony and one scene when either her or Antony’s behavior leads us to suspect that she’s unfaithful (or wavering in her fidelity).
