Introduction
The model of addiction etiology that best descr
ibes why people get addicted and how best to help them is Public Health Model or Harm Reduction Model.
The Public Health Model is focused to describe three significant approaches. The first aspect is the susceptible host, the addiction to the substance that is being used, and the environment that makes the addiction most prevalent such as addiction taken by the family members or any other factors that can influence the adjective behavior or substance use among the individuals.

This particular explanation makes inferences about the different elements that are effective for different descriptive and it needs to be influenced by multiple different factors to consider when assessing the addiction of the individuals and the contextualized measures in the treatment. This particular model is called Harm Reduction Model which is focused to reduce the harm on the social and personal levels caused by addiction or substance use (Strang et al., 2019). It is inherent to consider the relevant perspectives and different ways to implement harm reduction in all the phases of addiction and how those aspects can be broken down into various categories. The first aspect or the first category can be potentially about the primary prevention that focuses to stop the problem even before it starts. It is specifically achieved by effective drug education and media-based strategies that can help the community with proactive community development programs (Marlatt et al., 2020).
The second category is secondary prevention. This is focused on when the problem has been identified and intervention has been applied to help stop the progression. And the third category is focused on tertiary prevention where the problem is deemed serious and these affecting the person's daily life, finances, relationships, and other aspects. In this particular stage, the individual seeks to take the help of counseling and hospitalization or rehabilitation (Dunlop, 2020).
It is contextual to understand that this particular model is similar to the Biopsychosocial model or the Multicausal model of addiction. The aspect of the Public Health model or Harm Reduction Model provides the opportunity to enhance the model in terms of prevention treatment and aftercare of addiction. The context has been more effective on the problems associated with the usage rather than the use of itself. It is effective to consider the non-judgemental approach that is focused in order to emphasize the...
