In this assignment you are being asked to film yourself conducting an interview with a job applicant. You will be using the content that you developed in Assignment 1, that is, same company, same job, screening matrix, pre-screen, plan, and questions. Be sure to revise your content based on any feedback, if any, you received from your instructor regarding Assignment 1 and/or additional knowledge you have gained.

The video will be 8-12 minutes long and is intended to provide a snapshot of what would normally be a much longer interview. You do not need to show all of the steps of the interview process (preparation & planning, post evaluation etc.) in the video. However, you must describe the steps and explain your approach in the written portion of this assignment.  Failure to do so will lead me to believe that you are unaware of the entire interview process.

When you record your video please make sure that you, as the interviewer are clearly visible. If your volunteer wants to have their back to the camera that is okay but I must be able to see and hear you clearly. The more realistic your video the better.

Requirements:

This assignment requires you to submit a written report (Word document) that includes the following:
1.    A brief overview about the client and the job (1–2 paragraphs)
2.    The interview plan. Be sure that it includes the pre-interview, interview, and post-interview phases. This may be a combination of a flow chart and written content.

3.    The list of questions that you will ask and why you have chosen these as the most important for this clip. Include a variety of questions such as situational, behavioural descriptive, open- or close-ended, and probing. Since you will only have 8–12 minutes in total, select an appropriate number of questions for the time allotted.

4.    A copy of the script. The script should include the actual dialogue between you, the interviewer, and your applicant. Include any stage directions as well that are relevant, such as a shot of yourself sitting at a table, reading something. The stage directions would be something like: “It is 15 minutes before my first interview with_________. I am reviewing his / her resume, my questions, and other materials.”

5.    A post-interview summary that includes a critical analysis of the strengths you demonstrated as an interviewer and the areas for improvement next time. Note: Half of the marks for the written portion, 25, are available for this segment of the assignment. As a result, it is expected that the analysis will be in depth, and show insights between your behavior during the interview phases, and what you have learned about effective interviews. Be specific. Refer to the various interview steps and how you did or did not demonstrate them.

Please note: items 1- 4 are the same items that you already developed for Assignment 1.

Roles:

•    You will be the interviewer. Please provide your title, such as HR consultant, manager of finance.
•    A volunteer applicant. Recruit a friend, colleague, relative, or anyone who will be able to support you by playing the role of someone who really wants this job.  The more realistic the interview the better
