Unethical Behavior of Enron

In 1985, Houston Natural Gas & Inter North, a company located in Omaha, merged to establish Enron. Kenneth Lay, who had previously served as the chairman and CEO , Houston Natural Gas, took over as Enron's CEO and quickly transformed the company it in to an energy trader & provider.
Named the Most Innovative Company in America is Enron
Enron had established a variety of limited liability special purpose corporations by 1993, which allowed it to conceal its liabilities and raise the value of its stock. Enron was already under fire from analysts as "swimming in debt," however the business kept expanding, building a vast network for natural gas pipes and eventually entering the paper and pulp and water industries. Between 1996 through 2001, Fortune named Enron "America's Most Innovative Company" six times in a row.
Unethical Behavior of Enron
Ethical dilemma occurs potential organizational/personal benefit but maybe considered unethical. The Top Managers at Enron were unethical. An example of a top manager was Andrew Fastow. His job was too hide the fact that Enron was not making any profits. He needed to keep the Stock Price up. Hide Enron’s 30-billion-dollar debt. He implied tactics for “Bury debt and loses”.
Numerous ethical questions raised by the Enron scandal need to be examined and discussed. The principle of relativism will be the ethical dilemma that is highlighted in this case.
