Interviews

One of the main methods for data gathering when doing a qualitative study is through interviews. When writing a research proposal for a study that requires interviews, the researcher will write up an interview protocol that includes how the researcher will interact with the participant during the interview. The main part of the protocol involves what the interview questions are and whether the interview will be open-ended, structured, or semi-structured.
Find two dissertations in the ProQuest library Dissertation and Thesis data base that are related to your research topic for this course and that include an interview protocol as one of the Appendixes in the dissertation. [Hint: Do an advanced search for “your topic” AND “qualitative.” Then check the table of contents in interesting dissertations to see if they list the interview questions or protocol.]
For your initial post, critique the interview protocols that you found by writing about at least three aspects that surprised you, but you found beneficial, and write on at least three aspects that you would improve upon (and how). Support your answer using information from your readings. Post should be at least 300 words

Dissertation 1
The first dissertation that uses interviews for qualitative research in studying the aspects of leadership styles and the perceptions of the employees in the workplace is "Employee perceptions of leadership styles that influence workplace performance" by Carla Wren, (Doctoral dissertation, Walden University).
In this dissertation, the author uses qualitative research for data collection and encompasses approaches through interviews. The interview process is mostly semi-structured which permitted flexibility and effective control in the process of data collection.
