Introduction
It has been noticed that the digitalization and its transformation are the stands for the technology and its scenes. The system of enterprise resource planning is also having a great impact on the same and hence to overcome and encounter the same various trends are being taken into account in the ERP system and the trends are stated as IOT integrated with ERP and the cloud ERP. The various two technologies which have been taken into account and were considered significant importance for the recent growing trends of the ERP
system and these technologies are cloud ERP and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. ERP system in the enterprise is considered to be valuable software which is capable of creating efficiency and improving the system and this is one of the major reason that this maintains a great level of position on the leader boards of the various global markets. The report also deals with certain issues that the enterprise might face if the system of ERP has not been taken into account. IoT is considered to be one of the most appropriate transformation technology for the digitalized world which is in requirement of the internet connection and hence there is a great need and necessity of cloud services for making optimized and best use of the IoT devices for example business analysis and its respective intelligence.
Case study
Plastic Components Incorporation (PCI) is the company which is engaged in manufacturing and is well known for its revolutionary production of automation and its respective facilities made available to the users or clients. Apart from such an incredible level of production and the level of automation PCI is still facing certain issues by opting for several procedures like measurement of the manufacturing costs, scheduling the procedures, and inventory (Saldanha, Mithas, et.al., 2017). The company was making use of the excel and the spreadsheet in it and was even considering several calculations manually to consider the necessary workflows up to date and inflow.
The methodology of the company which was taken into account and was the bottleneck in the relevant procedure which were relating to the manufacturing and the process of distribution and hence to overcome the deficiencies of the conventional system the company that s PCI managers decided to take ERP system into account and to implement the same in the company and its operations. In the present case study, it has been noticed that PCI has preferred to opt for the IQMS (Baskerville, Rowe, et.al., 2018). One of most influencing and a driving factor which was held responsible for the selection made was the reason that IQMS was capable of being a support system for the advanced and modern technology which the PCI was already putting in use for undertaking its manufacturing system. At the time when the submission related to the order of the sales, the system of ERP is having the feature that will automatically make calculations and its demand, and will also take the measurement of the requirement of the raw material and is also features to schedule the requisite events on the floor of manufacturing to coincide the same with the relevant measurements.
In addition to all these PCI was also benefitted with the technology of the internet of things. With the several abilities of the internet of things, specifically, PCI and various different companies are able to connect themselves to the various devices on the floor of manufacturing for the purpose of performing certain tasks like monitoring the activities of production and transmission of the data and many more such activities which have to be taken into account by the respective companies.
Framework proposal
The company proposes a framework for the purpose of integrating IoT in the system of ERP and its implementation and the same initiates from the various three segments that is discovery, implementation, and usage (Sokač, and Picek, 2019). Every mentioned segment of the company is decentralized or decomposed into further smaller segments and every part of such segments is having activities or functions.
Discovery
Discovery presents a period in which the company is able to realize that the implementation of ERP integrated with the IoT is of paramount importance and would be of great help and beneficial for the business and the operations of the business. The topic discovery is having the full and complete concentration on the domain of the respective business related to the integration of the IoT (Lin, Shen, et.al., 2018). The terrain related to the IoT devices and its comparative usage is taken into account, along with the same various modern models of the business that are also put to use, and various modern and advanced diagrams were also considered in the same. The domain of the business was transformed in such a manner for the purpose of accepting the technology of IoT integrated with the ERP system.
Acceptance
Acceptance is considered to be the very first stage related to the whole procedure of integration of the IoT with the system of ERP. The company is well aware of the benefits and advantages of the same.
Integration
The next stage of the procedure is related to the potential s related to the IoT. The company makes the essential list of the IoT devices and all the relevant use of the cases which includes these IoT devices. The special emphasis is placed on deciding the needs and requirements of certain IoT devices and why they will be considered suitable for the company.
Adjusting
This relates to the specific decision which is taken at the end of the company whether the same should stick to the old and conventional business models or should opt for the disruptive models of the business (Ramakrishnan, 2018).
