Week 1
The first week was to share some basic information about the networking and other as our areas which are related with the networking and security stream. In the first week the professors provide us some understanding of the basic net terms related with the networking and some networking tools on which we have to perform practical in the lab. We try to understand the layered networking models. We were informed about the OSI model and the Internet models. The OSI layers were divided to be taught in each week. We also discussed about the cloud in mobile computing and its basic terms. The professor also informed us about the security fundamentals. A computer network can be defined as the telecommunication network which will allow the computer to exchange the data. If the cable is faulty or disconnected, then we need to use the Wi-Fi. If we are using the desktop computer then we can use the wired connection which will be connected with the modern. Each type of networking technology has their own standards and working style.
Week 2
In the second week we discussed about the different operations which can be performed in the networking hardware. The different types of operations are network interface card, hubs switches or routers. We investigated on different type of networks like the home network, campus network and the Internet. There are different types of networks which can be used for creating connection between the computers in a particular area. Later on, we investigated on 2 different reference models of the networking which is the TCP IP model and the OSI reference model. Both the models for the network were created to understand how the communication actually takes place between the systems over the network. Both of them have different types of layers which makes it possible to have proper communication. The circuit switched network uses a dedicated channel which is established before sending the data. The best example of such type of network is the plain old telephone system which were used in businesses and homes.
Week 3
From the 3rd week we started to discuss each layer of the osi model. The first one was the application player. We discussed about the application layer, its architecture, peer to peer connection, host-based connection and client server performance. We discussed how the application layer is created on how it performs all the tasks. Later on, we discussed about the cloud and its different types of services.
