My company recently moved away from Skype and started to use Microsoft teams. Everyone is still learning how to use it but so far it seems to be a very beneficial tool. It’s sort of a one stop shop, you can access your mail, files, chats. You can also access other MS applications through teams. When my company had Skype it sometimes felt I was all over the place with heaving to keep goin back to Outlook to Skype. It helps the team stay up to date with tasks.
Some of the pros are that it can help teams be more interactive such as creating team chats. This alleviates having to create several chats. It’s also a free platform, any user that has a Microsoft account has access to teams. Free users can host a meeting up to 100 members for up to 60 minutes (Simon, 2021). MT cons are that it might be much for some users. Several of my coworkers have been frustrated with it because it has so much and they don’t know where to start. Another con is that it does have high systems requirements, it will not run as smoothly on an entry level laptop or desktop (Simon, 2021). This is something users need to really consider when picking collaboration tools.
Googles meet is another collaboration tool. I’ve used this a handful of times for personal use. I wasn’t really impressed with it. It does have it’s advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is like MT it also a free platform. It does have similarities to MT that it allows 100 participants for up 60 min. Also, it is less expensive than Zoom. The plans range between $6 to $250 per user per month depending what it will be used for (Simon, Advantages and disadvantages of google meet, 2021). It can also be integrated with other Google tools and it is a more straightforward application for users A con of using Google meet is that it does not have as many features as other applications such as Zoom and it can be a lot on computer systems.
Both of these collaboration tools are great in their own way, it all depends on what the users needs. The best recommendation is to do your research on each tool.

Good collaborative software will make sure that they have communication tools that make it easy to communicate through email, video calls, instant messages, and voice mail. Conferencing tools that you can see each other in video streaming face to face talk. Last coordinating tools that allow for calendars to coordinate a time for everyone for meetings. Shows everyone events with alerts. There are two types of collaboration software. Asynchronous or non-real-time collaboration software. This consist of email, mailing list and newsgroups, workflow system, and group calendars. The synchronous or real-time collaboration consists of video communication systems, chat systems, and decision support systems. The two that I chose are Monday.com and Wrike. Monday.com is considered the best collaboration software. It stays focused on what is important to the company. It supports individual and team efforts. Easy to track projects. The price is supposed to be flexible. The price is more flexible for big companies and not for smaller companies. Timeline is not good for complex projects. Will not conform to what the company wants the spreadsheet to look like. Wrike has good visibility. The team leaders can see the progress of a project. Wrike has templates. Collaboration is good. The company can assign tasks to team members. Monday would be better for larger companies and Wrike can handle small or large companies.
