1. As per the distributive justice theories, compensating living donors for kidneys to be
used for transplantation and trying to address the growing gap in organ availability, it is not right to
do so as this cannot help give justice to all the classes of people. It results in inappropriate levels of
access to people who have the money and can afford it and leads to several problems to people who
are poor since they cannot afford it.
As per the theory of distributive justice, it is necessary that each of the sectors of the society
be benefitted out of the decision. If money is offered for organs, then it results in the poor people
trying to make money through organ donation. This may prove harmful in the long run and cannot
be considered as complete solution to the problem of lack of kidney donors since it cannot bring in
justice (Last, C. G., Hansen, C., & Franco, N., 1998).
As per the perspective of Rawls and a libertarian, the opinion might have been quite
different, since they would suggest that the usage of compensations strategy should be implemented
as it can help ensure and bridge the gap that exists between the demand and supply for organ
transplant especially kidneys as it can result in resolving of trouble for a certain class of people at
least.
