Listening Response Assignment Description:

As you listen to the example, write a brief (100-150 word minimum) response describing what you hear. If possible, try to include musical terminology (melody, rhythm, harmony) and concepts from the lectures/textbook (improvisation, call and response, swing).

Some questions to consider are: What instruments do you hear? What is the mood of the piece? What style can this song be described as? What makes the song interesting/exciting/unique?

Your response doesn't have to be overly formal, but should demonstrate that you are listening closely and thinking critically about what you hear.It is ok to incorporate information from the listening guide, but I primarily want your own observations/reactions!
