Introduction
This is the reflective journal for 11 weeks course to understand enterprise social networks. This was the 11-week course to understand the e commerce and the enterprise social network. The idea behind this course was to make us understand about the e commerce and how it works. We discussed about the basic key features of e-commerce and also discuss about the security. this course tells us about how the e commerce is different from the e-business and help us to identify the primary technological building blocks which are present in the e commerce it also discussed about the current themes. We also discussed about the packet switching. It is used to slice the digital message into packets and the package are send along the different communication path. We started in this course to find out and describe the basic digital commerce marketing and advertising tools and strategies.
Week 1: Introduction to Electronic Commerce
In the first week of this course, we discuss about the importance of studying ecommerce. It is a major part of the business currently and we need to understand there are different types of the e commerce and the unique features which can be utilised in the business and how they can be beneficial for the business in significant manner. this course tells us about how the e commerce is different from the e-business and help us to identify the primary technological building blocks which are present in the e commerce it also discussed about the current themes. We discussed about the unique features of the e commerce technology. Ubiquity, universal standards, global reach, and information richness are the unique features of ecommerce technology. We discussed about the types of the e commerce and its evolution since the start to current period. There are multiple themes which are present in the ecommerce. The e commerce is now digitally enabled commercial transaction between the individuals and the organisations. And e-business is digital enabling of the transaction and processes within the organization and it involves the information system under the control of the organization. It does not include any commercial tradition which will change of the values across the organizational boundaries. There are different types of the ecommerce which has proved strong growth. The technology trends have mobile platform which has made the mobile ecommerce as the reality. For social trends it increased the online sharing and social interaction.
Week 2: Technology Infrastructure The Internet and the World Wide Web
In the second week of this course the discussion was all about the key concepts related with the Internet. The discussion was about the current structure of the Internet and how the evolution took place. We discussed about the working of web and also how the Internet and web features are able to support ecommerce. There was discussion about the impact of mobile applications on the ecommerce in detail. The Internet can be defined as the interconnected network of multiple networks or the millions of the computers. It is used to link the businesses, government agencies, individuals and the educational institutions. The worldwide web can be defined as the service of Internet, and it provides access for billions of the web pages. We also discussed about the packet switching. It is used to slice the digital message into packets and the package are send along the different communication path. All the packets are resembled once they arrive at their destination. It is less expensive than the circuit switching. We discussed about the transmission control protocol which is used to establish connection between the sending and receiving computers. It is used to handle the assembly of the packets at the point of transmission and reassemble them at their destination. It has four layers which are network interface layer Internet layer, transport layer and application layer. We also discussed about the domain name and Internet of Things.
Week 3: Selling on the Web
The third week was to discuss about selling in the market. We discussed about the environment in which the online retail sector is operating currently. This week also explained how we can analyse the economic viability of the online organization. It is important to find out different challenges which can be faced by the types of the online retailers. We discussed about the major features which can be utilised by the owner on online service sector. It had discussion about the trends which are currently taking place in the online financial services industry. It is important to understand the business models of on demand service companies. The most important theme in the online retailing is to put effort for integrating the offline and online operations.
