PROJECT PROPOSAL AND PRESENTATION WEIGHTING (30%) LEARNING OUTCOMES Through the completion of this task, students will be able to: 1. Identify, interpret and analyse stakeholder needs in order to design a suitable development process. 2. Research and analyses information in order to inform the design of a project 3. Analyse feedback in order to develop a product. TASK OUTLINE Students are required to pitch an idea for a website/app with the intention to create a unique service/product/information source for a specific target audience. Students will use user centred research techniques to establish “need”, “goals” and “purpose” for the website/app. Students will present their idea and findings in two formats, a presentation and a formal report. This proposal is the first step to defining your idea: what it is exactly, how it works and who it's for. Your proposal gives us the opportunity to give you feedback on your idea, and hopefully spot potential problems before they occur. This assessment is made up of two tasks: 1. Presentation Students will present their idea for their website/app to their peers with the support of a presentation. The presentation should have a minimum of 10 slides – the duration of the presentation should be no less than 5 minutes and no more than 10 minutes. If you can add voice to your slides, please do so. If you cannot, please submit notes in the notes section outlining what you will be discussing in your presentation. Please include a reference slide in Harvard style APA format. All images, websites and research will need to be correctly referenced throughout your presentation. 2. Project Proposal Students will develop a formal project proposal document expanding upon the information they have outlined in their presentation. The minimum word length for this part of the assignment is 1500 words and the maximum is 2000 words. Feel free to include images and references using your research so far. Use of academic journals, books and peer-reviewed literature as well as your web-based research is encouraged. Please ensure that you include references in Harvard style APA format. All images, websites and research in the reference section and in-text referencing throughout your document will need to be correctly referenced throughout your document. What to include in your presentation and documentation: Students have to choose the concept for their website/app and describe the concept in detail. The final project may be a website or an app (either PC or mobile). Please include details such as adaptive/responsive design and/or pixel sizes. Include operating system information, and intended mode of delivery. Your presentation and document should address the following topics: 1. Target Device/System: Is this a website? Mobile app? or PC-based app? 2. Target Audience: Who are they? Where are they? What's their interest? * 3. User goals, user journeys, including storyboards/journey maps and personas. 4. Describe System: Tell us what is it? What is it going to look like? What are your inspirations and references? 5. What other products are currently available on the market? Why is your concept going to succeed? * You will need to conduct some type of initial survey/research on your target audience and present it in this section. A1.
