Instruments used by us are mostly self-reported ones which means the type of questionnaire, survey or poll wherein the questions are read by respondents followed by selection of response by them without any external interference. Self report instrument involves asking respondents about their attitudes, feelings, beliefs etc. There are several advantages of self reporting but they also face specific disadvantages and limitations which includes honesty and introspective ability.
