  • Reflect on the issues that are present in your family, or community (which may include your neighborhood, your hometown, or your state). Identify a problem that you think is particularly important-=-something that you think folks should be aware ofand something that needs action in order to produce positive change.





  • Compose a formal letter addressed to a specific person or organization. The letter should beat least one pages in length. Clearly outline the problem as you see it, and attempt to persuade or move your reader toward some shift in attitude, or toward supporting a specific action or policy.




  • Remember: An ArgumentofProposal should explain clearly what the problem is, and then offer a viable solution. It should not simply complain about the problem.
