Task

This assessment aims to develop and gauge student understanding of the key topics covered so far by answering the following questions. Answering these questions will help you build some understanding for the next assessment item as well as for the entire subject. It is expected that answers to the assignment questions be succinct (i.e. precise and concise) with all sources of information fully referenced as per APA referencing style. Answer: OSI and TCP/IP are two networking protocol standards to define the network communication and entities  (Chaudry, 2018). The difference between these two network reference stan
dards are defined Point wise as follows
· Open System Interconnection is protocol independent network standard whereas Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is protocol dependent.
· OSI is has totally seven layers whereas TCP/IP protocol suite has only five layers.
· There is guarantee of the delivery of packets to destination system from source system by transport layer of OSI model but, with TCP/IP model it depends upon the type and selection of the protocol such as User Datagram Protocol (UDP) does not guarantees the packets from source to destination and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) at transport layer guarantees the delivery of packets from source to destination system.
· Vertical communication approach is employed by OSI model whereas Horizontal communication approach is employed by TCP/IP model.
· With TCP/IP, there are two types of connection services such connection oriented and connection less services are provided whereas by OSI only the connection oriented service is provided.
· The protocols under the OSI model changes with respect to the change in the technology and also be hidden but in case of the TCP/IP reference model the protocols do not changes by change in the technology and properly specified and defined.
· It is always a problem to fit the protocols on the specified layer of the OSI model but this is not a problem with the TCP/IP model.
· OSI model is conceptual model that provides the standards for communication whereas the TCP/IP is an implementation model of the communication over the Internet.
· OSI model provides the definitions of the service, interface and protocols but the TCP/IP model there is not any definition of the service, interface and protocol.
· OSI model gives the network connection from the bottom layer to upper layer whereas the TCP/IP model gives the network connection from top layer to bottom layer.
· There is complexity with the OSI model standards but TCP/IP model standard is very simple and simplified implementation.
· Reliability is provided by the OSI model whereas by TCP/IP model reliability does not be provided.
· OSI model is general reference model for the standards of the communication system while TCP/IP is real model for the communication system containing various protocols at each of the layer.
· The application, presentation and session layers are separate layers in OSI model but these three layers are combined together in TCP/IP model

After opening the website PIV4 radio button is selected and the IP address 192.168.0.0 is filled under the IP address field. Thereafter 24 (255.255.255.0 – 254 hosts) is selected from the MB combo box and then result is displayed having the following snapshot.
