Overview of the Assessment
The individual assignment is to individually write an essay in which you analyse a case provided in
class. The essay should be 1000 words (+/- 10%).
Specific Instructions
1. Read and analyse the following case: Finding and Developing Employee Talent at
Deloitte (pp. 112-113).
A copy of this case is available via the Library Online Reading List for this subject. Ignore the
questions printed at the end of the case.
Use relevant case information and relevant OB theory and research, including supporting research
from at least five academic-peer reviewed journal articles, to answer the following questions:
1. Explain Deloitte’s management approach. From the company's perspective discuss whether
this is an effective management approach and why.
2. Identify and explain the strengths and weaknesses of Deloitte’s hiring program. In your
answer discuss the key personality characteristics you think Deloitte is seeking.
3. Using your understanding of motivation, job attitude or perception, provide
recommendations to Deloitte’s management team about how to improve hiring practices
and retain staff (Note: you do not need to discuss all three topic areas).
Your analysis of the Finding and Developing Employee Talent at Deloitte case and questions should
be 1000 words (+/- 10%).
