Part 1: Differentiation between Ethics and Morality with Examples
Ethics and morality have a vague line of distinction between them, which is why they are commonly used interchangeably. However, they do have their distinctly different definitions. As mentioned by Chell, Spence, Perrini and Harris (2016), ethics is the set of rules that are levied in an organization or to some situation, which helps individuals follow the right path and prevent them from doing the wrong. On the other hand, as argued by Sendjaya, Pekerti, Hartel, Hirst and Butarbutar (2016), morality is one’s own sense of judging the right from the wrong, which prevents them from going astray. With examples, it can be stated that although a company can provide its employees with a set of principles or code of conduct, whether to follow it and apply it to their working practices is completely the respective individual’s morality.
