Speech 4 Proposal Speech 4 Proposal Due Sunday by 11:59pm Points 5 Submitting a file upload Available after Nov 11 at 8am Submit Assignment Speech 4 Proposal Assignment This proposal, like the others, will start with the standard six steps. Then you will address additional questions that relate more specifically to persuasion. For example, you need to provide information on the types of research you will need to do and where you will be tracking this material down. Remember, you need to do rigorous CRAAP testing. I will also reiterate my belief that you should rely as much as possible on peer-reviewed journals. There is, of course, a time and a place for certain .org, .gov, and .edu websites. Remember that you should look at pages 353-4 when considering your specific purpose. In Speech 4, the Persuasive Speech, we might have to navigate thorny issues, and we absolutely should wrestle with multiple perspectives in a dispassionate, critical way. (I will reiterate, however, that hot-button issues rarely result in good topics or good speeches. Remember, that even though your specific purpose may be to change minds, you need the audience to stick around long enough to hear you out.) I hope it’s obvious that in our attempt to persuade and in our use of outside sources we shouldn’t sacrifice integrity or transparency. Therefore, you should find genuine counterarguments rather than establish “straw-man” arguments meant to make your position seem strong. You also need to cite sources orally. Your audience needs to know what your sources are; they also need to know if those sources have specific agendas, allegiances, or ideologies. If you forget the six steps, they are • speech context • audience • general purpose • topic • specific purpose • working thesis Note: Your thesis is bound to change as you develop your speech, but a working thesis provides focus. Remember that the working thesis should combine the point you want to make and clearly express your point of view. I also want you to include your “connect” step here. I require this because I want you to think about why you are giving your speech and how you plan to acknowledge your audience’s needs and expectations. Additional things to address • Why did you select this topic? Why do you think there is a need for your speech? • Why do you think your audience will be interested or find your topic relevant to their lives? • What type(s) of persuasive appeal(s) do you think you will use? Why? (Chapter 14) • What pattern of organization will you use? Why? (Chapter 9) • What outside research will you do? Why? • What types of visual aids might you use? Criteria for Evaluation +First and foremost, I will be looking to see that you followed instructions +Each of the steps listed above should be covered; your responses should be thorough +You thoroughly work through the types of research you might need and where you might look for them and where you might go if you come up bust on the first couple tries +You specify the organizational strategy that you will employ and explain why it’s the strategy that makes the most sense. +The proposal is written in essay form; do not answer the questions in list form +Your writing meets the minimum basics of college writing, including paragraphs that have clear topic sentences, that develop logically, and that stick to a single topic +You write in full sentences. +You use MLA or APA style Charlie Highlight

Title: Do children of domestic violence continue th
e cycle of abuse?
Persuasive Essay — Speech 4 Proposal
Children are vulnerable individuals of the society, who are quite prone to being the easy target of wrath of various people around them. These can be teachers, friends, people in their society and even their own family members, including their parents. Hence, domestic violence being practiced on the children is never been an uncommon issue to delve into (Schelbe and Geiger).
However, the aspect that should not be forgotten is that whatsoever vulnerable they are, children are sensitive as well as sensible towards the happenings that take place around them. Hence, they are deeply affected from the violence that happens to them or with the people, who they happen to live with all the time. As supported by Barocas et al., they feel scared, sad, depressed,...
