According to Barr and McClellan (2018), Australian Securities Exchange is auction market and it means that the price of the securities is decided based on the demand in the market rather than being fixed by a moderator or dealer. The economic event happens only when the seller and the buyer agree at a price called the equilibrium price.

In case of a dealer market, multiple dealer post various purchase and selling price of the various instruments. The dealer is designated as the maker and they provide transparency and liquidity at which he is willing to market the security. The major difference between dealer market and auction market is stocks are traded in auction market whereas bonds and foreign exchange are traded in dealer market.
