Introduction
Globalization has caused individuals from differing cultures to come together as well as interact amongst one other. The differences resulted in cultural barriers which leads to the creation of misunderstanding as well as in addition causes ineffective interactions as well as harm both personal as well as organizational relationships (Chiu and Shi 2019; Rockstuhl and Ng 2015; Ang and Van Dyne 2015). It has been acknowledged across studies that communication, social behaviours, negotiation, process of decision making, as well as interpersonal communications shall become confusing without the adoption of local culture, or else without bringing in cultural synergy. In addition, cultural differences shall also cause hinderances within organizational contexts in terms of co-ordination amongst employees as well as overall flow concerning information within organization (Chiu and Shi 2019; Rockstuhl and Ng 2015; Ang and Van Dyne 2015).
In this context, cultural intelligence which can be defined to be ability of a person for adapting in an effective manner towards newer cultural contexts aligned with values as well as beliefs concerning the specific society / culture becomes (Chiu and Shi 2019; Rockstuhl and Ng 2015; Ang and Van Dyne 2015). It shall represent the intelligence which shall contribute towards adapting with cultural behaviours. Cultural intelligence has been conceptualized as four different critical elements that are essential to ensure effective form of intercultural interactions, that is, metacognitive, cognitive, motivational and behavioural (Chiu and Shi 2019; Rockstuhl and Ng 2015; Ang and Van Dyne 2015). Cultural intelligence aids people in recognizing the cultural differences as well as develop ability for adjusting in a proper manner over varied cultures all across the globe that shall result in increased levels of organizational level commitments, public communications, effective form of team work / collaborations, effective negotiations, etc.
In this context, the objective of this report is to undertake a cultural critique comparing the Indian culture and Australian culture, and assessing the cultural implications as well as intercultural interactions.
