Answer 1. Growing up as a first-generation American Latino, I always felt a deep connection to my parents' homeland of El Salvador. They had left the country in the mid-80s during a civil war that had torn the nation apart. Despite being born in the United States in the early 90s, I was raised with a strong sense of my Salvadoran heritage, language, and culture. My parents worked hard to provide for our family, and they instilled in me the importance of education as a means of achieving success and a better life. When I joined the United States Navy, I was exposed to data science for the first time. As a system and database administrator for my squadron, I discovered the power of data and how it can be used to make informed decisions.
This experience led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in Analytics, and I am proud to be the first person in my family to graduate with a bachelor's degree. I am now eager to continue my education and further my career in the field of data science. My career goal is to start as a Data Analyst and then work my way up to become a Database Administrator, Data Scientist, or even a Data Architect. As a Data Analyst, I will use my skills to analyze large amounts of data to identify patterns and trends that can help organizations make better decisions. As a Database Administrator, I will ensure that databases are secure, accessible, and optimized for performance. As a Data Scientist, I will use machine learning algorithms to build predictive models that can help businesses forecast future trends. And as a Data Architect, I will design and manage complex data systems that can support the needs of large organizations.
I am excited about the opportunity to pursue a Master's degree in Applied Data Science in Business (MSADSB) at Texas State. This program will provide me with the advanced skills and knowledge I need to achieve my career goals and make a positive impact in the field of data science.
