You are hired as a network engineer to design and implement their IT infrastructure. Assume that the organisation intends to use the latest technology however, reasonable budget and expenditure are highly recommended. In a face-to face meeting with the top-level Management, you were able to receive only the general information about the organisation. The general information includes: the two office sites in Sydney and in Adelaide. Sydney site requires 50 employees while Adelaide site have 75 employees. Both the sites have Customer Services, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Management departments. A network design and implementation proposal are required. As a part of proposal, submit a report to address the following two tasks. Please note that this is a group assignment, and 5 students are allowed in a group at maximum. Task 1: In order to gather (user, application, and network requirements) different techniques i.e., Interviews and questionnaire are used. Create a questionnaire to get application requirements. The questionnaire must have at least 4 questions. Describe the purpose of each question and categorise the question whether it is focused to user, application or device requirements. Record possible answers to use in next task. Task 2:  Based on the requirements identified at Task1, design a WAN structure of the business showing all devices such as routers, switches, links, etc., by using a relevant network designing software. Draw a diagram to illustrate your high-level design.  Determine network addresses by using the subnet 192.168.P.0/24, where P is your group number. You also need to use Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM) technique whilst creating the subnets and allow 20% for possible future expansion.  You need to explain the technical aspects for the choosing devices such routers, switches, hubs, cables, servers etc.  Configure the topology devices with basic configurations, routing and NAT (Using Packet Tracer). Additional configuration such as VLAN and Port security etc. Task 3:  Video demonstration (10 minutes at Max) The group is required to prepare a short 7–10-minute video covering the following aspects:  overall implementation of the network  routing configuration and  VLAN configuration BN321 Advanced Network Design Page 3 of 4 Prepared by: Dr Sanjeeb Shrestha Moderated by: Dr Imran Jokhio May 2022 It is mandatory to have your avatar on the screen while describing your design. 1. Introduction
The expending of any firm like this consulting firm makes requirement of improvement in IT infrastructure. With improved IT infrastructure, the operational stability and transparency in operations can easily be maintained. This consulting firm is maintaining two offices and 125 employees for handling their operations. This firm is also maintaining five different departments which are having separate functionalities. The implementation of LAN is required for all five departments and associated employees. The face to face meeting with the management of this consulting firm leads to identification of basic requirements, thus, questionnaire will be developed and their possible answers will be recorded for the development of logical network design. The IP allocation is also most important part, thus, sub-netting will also be done with help of VLSM technique. There will be different devices (Hardware) required for designing the required LAN implementation, thus, their specifications will also be recorded for this report development. The logical implementation will require a simulator, thus, packet tracer based simulation environment will be used for development of required logical design. The detailed information about device configuration and their maintained specifications with IP allocation will be included in next upcoming sections of this report.
2. Questionnaire and possible answers for requirement collection
The top management of the provided consulting firm has provided the basic information about the organizational structure, working departments and locations. The employee count working on both locations is also mentioned by the consulting firm but any specific information about the technical implementations required for LAN are not being provided by the top management. Thus, the questionnaire is being developed for identification of technical requirements related to implemented devices, used applications and involved users. The developed questionnaire maintaining questions and their possible recorded responses is provided underneath:
1. Network requirement: How the authentication of user will be done while making use of network services ? Is central authentication with multiple factors will be required?
Possible response: The authentication of users will be done on bases of their user IDs. The implementation of multi factor authentication is only required for sensitive data access.
2. Application requirement: Is there any specific application which will be used the employees of the consulting firm? How the data generated by the used applications will be stored: on cloud or physical server ?
Possible response: The employees of the consulting firms makes use of a specific application for storing the client information. The employees of both locations makes use of this application. This application will be executed on...
