In order to ensure major project success, it is imperative that good project management principles are used early in the planning stage of a project. As the major project becomes more defined, the Project Management Plan will become the tool by which the project will be effectively managed. Assessment Task: This assessment task is designed to be completed in teams of 4-5 students. You have to choose a project from the networking or telecommunication area. The PMP should clearly identify the proposed strategic change, expected outcomes, key milestones and deliverables, and appropriate project planning and reporting templates. Purpose of document
The major purpose of this document is to plan and schedule all the activities which needs to be performed during development of hotel management system. It is very important to realize the maximum potential of any hotel which can be reduced by following the current redundant manual system. There are lot of loss frequent errors in the current manual system and it is important that hotel opt for a hotel management system.
The new hotel management system should be:
· friendlier for the customers and staff
· improve the customer care and service at the hotel
· increase the performance of the hotel
· reduce the operational cost in the hotel.
Project background
The current manual system in the hotel means requirement of the paper and the communication is done in human language by the mouth to manage all the operations in the hotel. This process delays transmission of information in the hotel. The customers can book the rooms by visiting the hotel booking office or over the phone call. All the personal information about the guest like nationality, name, age, duration of stay, check in store during the booking time. Booking office will order the staff member to prepare for the room of the guest before he checks in. All the documents are transferred manually to the filling Department for completing the file of the guest. The information file is transferred to the reception Department on the reporting date. Once the guest check in his key will be allocated given to him for the allocated room and he will also specify if there is any requirement of room service. The customer file will be shared by the accountant where the customer will pay for meals and accommodation charges. The file will be updated on the daily basis to calculate his total expenditure cost. The accounts Department will generate the bill on the daily basis, and it will be delivered to the room through that service maids. The customer will pay at the account desk and receipt will be generated. This whole process is very time consuming and it makes contain errors.

It is very important to analyse the user characteristics for any project. It help us to clearly define and focus on the end users of the project. The end user of this hotel management system are administrator and the customers.
