Purpose

This assignment will sum up the Photoshop section of the course. You will work independently to create unique artwork that meets specific technical standards.

  Downloadthe file archives linked above. Read through the assignment instructions and explore the sample files.

  Brainstorm. Try to come up with an engaging idea for this project. Your "selfie" can focus on your own personality or interests. If you are uncomfortable being the star of the show, you can build a portrait of a family member, pet or favorite celebrity.

  Main image. Once you've developed an idea, you'll need a main image that it at least 900 x 600 pixels.

  Build a working file. Create a new document that is 900 x 600 pixels. Make sure your file is in the RGB color space initially.

  Create your collage. Add the central image; copy and paste the other images into the working file.

  Add type. There must be one live type layer in your final PSD file. You can set your name in your favorite typeface or use type as a textural element.

  Create a frame. As a final step, create a simple frame to contain your collage. You can create a frame from scratch in Photoshop, or find a separate image to use.

  File specs:900 x 600 pixels at 300ppi.

  Imagery. Combine your central image with at least 2 other images. These extras can be objects, textures or any graphic embellishment you can dream up.

  Type. Use a type layer someplace in your file.

  Frame. Create a simple frame to contain your portrait.

  Layer Management. All layers should be named and organized into Layer Groups.

You will turn in three separate files for this project:

• Layered RGB PSD file [Lastname_PSfinal.psd]




• Flat RGB JPEG file [Lastname_PSfinal.jpg]




• Flat CMYK TIFF file [Lastname_PSfinal.tif Resample this file to be 300ppi].
