Imagine you wish to orientate a new healthcare OR midwifery professional arriving in Australia from overseas. Write an overview of the Australian health care system. In your overview describe how the system is structured, what has influenced the design of its structure and functioning and identify some of the key issues currently challenging the delivery of midwifery services and broader healthcare issues in Australia.
Consider:
the description of the structure and governance of the system;
your understanding of the factors that influence the system; and.
your understanding of the current issues.
TOPIC 2
Critically analyse and compare the Australian Health Care System with another international health system, which includes theoretical and practical considerations.
Consider:
the health policies, with attention to their function, financing, participants (health professionals and clients/patients), services, and the system's effectiveness and efficiency;
identify current issues and problems confronting the delivery of healthcare OR midwifery services in the countries you review;
compare and contrast the two health systems in particular one component such as primary health, universal health care and how that impacts on the delivery of services in an area of interest (eg midwifery).
