Predictive analytics has been suggested as a strategic necessity as it has potential benefits for not just technology giants but all types of businesses. The paper aims to show the significance of analytics in the domain of human resource using the example of Hewlett-Packard which is among the first technology companies that used analytics for enhancing many features of human resource management. It reports on the exploratory study that shows how a particular model of predictive analytics such as Flight Risk Score can reduce the number of employees quitting job at an organization.

Businesses have acquired strong and sensitive details about employees through predictive analytics. These details reveal that a considerable number of full-time employees think about leaving their current employer and look for a new job [1].
The need for such predictive analysis rose from certain factors such as bulk layoffs during recession [2] and the curbing of perks, benefits, promotions and trainings to the employees. Such factors cause the employee to be less likely to remain self- motivated and may make her emotionally detached from the organization. However, the commitment is required to be mutual between an organization and its employee.
The organization under consideration uses a strong predictive analytics model of Flight Risk Score calculation to predict its employee behavior and control/reduce the resignation count. This strategy foretells if an employee intends to leave job, on the basis of collecting and interpreting data about her behavior.
However, this data renders certain issues observed while collection and interpretation. First, the data is based on speculation which if speculated wrongly, may misinterpret the employee’s loyalty towards the organization. Second, the employees are unaware of this speculation which may result in paranoia among them about information leakage. Third, the employees may fear that snooping into their natural behavior may predict their private future. Fourth, the civil liberties of employees may get restricted with such predictions.

The predictive analytics method under review required understanding what data should be observed, recorded and scrutinized in order to predict employee behavior.
