Respond to the following in a minimum of 250 words:

Who should conduct the performance tests? Depending on the project, the team involved, and the organization's budget, there are different best answers to this. I can understand the logic behind a few of them, and do not feel married to any one solution.

For instance:

• Having the same person be the one tester assures that the results are consistent.


• Having the programmer/developer who coded the program/system be the tester allows them to test for the weak points/bottlenecks they are familiar with.


• Having a specialized test team, a group of coders whose main duty is testing, makes them efficient testers and the process will be completed sooner.

I can see advantages to all three of the above, depending on what you are testing and how much you can spend. The customer might also have regulatory reasons for running a particular test or tests, and since they are paying for it, they might also dictate the order in which the tests are conducted.
