Commercials on television have revolutionized the marketing strategies of the organizations these days; they thrive to live up to the expectations of the common customers and there are various techniques such as appeal to the emotions of people (pathos), ethical obligations (ethos) and logical reasoning (logos) are widely used. The world of developing commercials has grown as an industry in itself; every product has some kind of television-based approach to the minds of the customers. The following is the analysis of the television ad of Amazon Alexa, which was produced in 2019 Super Bowl Tournament (Hager). This advertisement has gained popularity since the time of its production and it has helped Amazon to convey the right message to the customers willing to become potential customers of its product, Alexa.
The Overview of Commercial
    At first, it is significant to overview the basic content of the commercial with regard to notice how it is appealing to the various aspects of consumer psychology. The tagline of the ad is appealing to the senses of people because it says ‘not everything makes the cut’. Now, the word ‘cut’ here is used to imply the social isolation, which virtual world and digital means serve to the customers; the engagement with the digital platforms like social media simply makes them confined to a single room (Becker & Lee). However, the ad proposes Alexa as the means of entertainment and a method through which, customers can enhance their knowledge of the world. The ninety-second ad features a great deal of things that Alexa can do. For example, it can cook pasta by turning the oven on, as per the command received by one of the Amazon employees. It can tell the owner (Ford) that his dog is powered by Alexa controlled dog collar and she can tell by listening to dog’s voice only that what kind of food he wants (Graham).
