After reading Chapter 2 in the Lim text and reviewing the lectures on the three perspectives, answer the question below. Cite Lim Chapter 2 at least twice. 300 words minimum.
Essay Question #1: After learning about all three traditional perspectives of IPE, which do you find most compelling? You should be able to defend and support your response.
Take some time to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of each perspective. All three have been around for a very long time, and they all have something important to tell us. But this essay requires you to take a position and defend it. You will choose one and state why you find it the most compelling of the three. Make sure your thesis statement (which perspective you've chosen) is clearly stated at the beginning of the essay.
After reading Chapter 2 in the Lim text, and reviewing the lectures on the three perspectives, andreading two additional articles of your choosing, answer the question below. Cite Lim Chapter 2 and both your chosen articles at least once each (minimum 3 citations). 500 words minimum.
Now that you have an idea what the three perspectives are, you can find examples of actions of the Chinese government or features of the Chinese economy that reflect each of the three perspectives. Any example since the formation of the modern Chinese state (1949 - today) is acceptable for this essay. You can think of this short essay as consisting of three very short essays. Cite and explain an example that reflects liberalism and then explain why it reflects liberalism. Then do the same for mercantilism and Marxism.
