This Assignment includes two parts, Part 1 and Part 2.

Part 1

To prepare for this Part 1 of your Assignment:

  • Review this week 9 and 10 Learning Resources and media program related to multiple regression.

  • Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset or the High School Longitudinal Study dataset (whichever you choose) found in the Learning Resources for this week.

  • Based on the dataset you chose, construct a research question that can be answered with a multiple regression analysis.

  • Once you perform your multiple regression analysis, review Chapter 11 of the Wagner text to understand how to copy and paste your output into your Word document.

For this Part 1 Assignment:

Write a 1- to 2-page analysis of your multiple regression results for each research question. In your analysis, display the data for the output. Based on your results, provide an explanation of what the implications of social change might be.

Use proper APA format, citations, and referencing for your analysis, research question, and display of output.

Part 2

To prepare for this Part 2 of your Assignment:

  • Review Warner’s Chapter 12 and Chapter 2 of the Wagner course text and the media program found in this week’s Learning Resources and consider the use of dummy variables.

  • Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset or the High School Longitudinal Study dataset (whichever you choose) found in this week’s Learning Resources.

  • Consider the following:

    • Create a research question with metric variables and one variable that requires dummy coding. Estimate the model and report results.Note:You are expected to perform regression diagnostics and report that as well.

  • Once you perform your analysis, review Chapter 11 of the Wagner text to understand how to copy and paste your output into your Word document.

For this Part 2 Assignment:

Write a 2- to 3-page analysis of your multiple regression using dummy variables results for each research question. In your analysis, display the data for the output. Based on your results, provide an explanation of what the implications of social change might be.

Use proper APA format, citations, and referencing for your analysis, research question, and display of output.

Part 1
My research question is to know if the problem with the public health clinic is associated with a number of adults in household and age. The dependent variable is the number of problems with the public health clinic. The independent variables are the number of ad
ults in the household and age. All the variables namely problems with the public health clinic, the number of adults in household and age are measured by the ratio scale of measurement.
The regression equation is obtained by the column of coefficients. Problem with public health clinic = 7.616 + 0.126*number of adults - 0.017*Age
consider the null hypothesis, the model is not significant. This is tested against an alternative hypothesis that the model is significant. With F=119.719, p<5%, the null hypothesis is rejected at 5% level of significance. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that the model is significant. Gunst, R. F. (2018).
The coefficient of determination is 0.006. There is only 0.6% variation in problems with public health clinic which is explained by a number of adults and age. This percentage is very less and hence the fit model is said to be a bad fit for the data. Chatterjee, S., & Hadi, A. S. (2015).
With t=12.242, p<5%, the coefficient of a number of adults in the household is significant at 5% level of significance. With one adult increase in the household, the problem with public health clinic is increased by 0.126.
With t=-9.55, p<5%, the coefficient of age is significant at 5% level of significance. With  1 year increase in age of the respondent, the problem with public health clinic is decreased by 0.017.
The normal probability plot is s-shaped approximately. Hence the assumption of normality of residuals is satisfied. Fox, J. (2015).
The residual plot does not have points arranged in a random pattern. Hence the variance is not constant. Thus, the assumption of homogeneity of error variances is not satisfied. Fox, J. (2015).
Part 2
My research question is to know if the problem with the public health clinic is associated with a number of adults in household, age and employment status. The dependent variable is the number of problems with the public health clinic. The independent variables are the number of adults in the household, age, and Employment status. Problems with the public health clinic, the number of adults in household and age are measured by the ratio scale of measurement. Employment status is measured by the nominal scale of measurement. Employment status is coded as one for employed and 0 for unemployed.
The regression equation is obtained by the column of coefficients. Problem with public health clinic = 7.618 + 0.125*number of adults - 0.017*Age...
