    Canadian silent movies have attempted to show the wilderness of Canada, the natural beauty of it and at the same time, these movies are outstanding in showcasing the human emotions in the best manner possible. Back to God’s Country is one of such attempts. Neil Shipman, the protagonist of the movie, connects well with the only evidence left of murder in the movie. In true sense, there is a projection of feministic sensibility in the approach of the plot of movie. By projecting animal communication with female protagonist, Neil highlights the conceptual feminism in the movie through erotic means; the desire for social recognition and appreciation is the definable aspects of Canadian feminism shown in the picture.
Neil’s Approach, Feminism and Canadian Identity
    At first, it is significant to note here that Neil stands in the centre of the plot of the movie as the most jovial and nature loving creature. It aligns her with the contemporary trends of Canadian cinema in which, directors used to ensure that impacts of natural beauty are maximized by the efforts of the characters. Neil’s life projections in the movie such as dancing around river and showing amicable state of relationships with the animals are the central attraction of the movie. She is shown as emotionally sensible person who is able to understand that the animals have a voice of their own which can only be understood by having lovable nature at personal level.
