Introduction
The natural hazard, which I would like to discuss on, is earthquake. It occurs when two fault lines of the earth moves and strikes against one another. It is a geophysical hazard, which occurs due to the seismic waves, arose by the movement and this energy makes the surface of the earth to move and shake causing several negative effects to the lives residing on it. I am most interested in this particular natural hazard as the mechanism of it grows a curiosity within me. The process of the movement of the tectonic plates and resulting in the destruction of the above landmass is quiet an interesting to me.
Discussion
The cause of earthquake is due to the movement of the tectonic plates of the earth. When the plates strike one another, it creates fault line, which results in the movement of the earth surface. As mentioned by McLaskey (2019), the earthquake can be determined from the foreshocks observed in a laboratory observation. This informs that the earthquake acquires its energy from the seismic waves, which are created by the movement of the plates.
