This is the prompt: 1.Students will gain first-hand experience attending a service in a tradition that is unfamiliar to them, and will analyze this experience using a sociological imagination. The tradition/serve must meet with instructor’s approval. This will consist of three parts
1) a proposal of what kind of service and where you will attend, and brief summary of what you expect it will be like based on preliminary research into the tradition.
2) Field notes, taken immediately after you attend the service.
3) Field work description and analysis-What kind of tradition did you experience? What was the theme or goal of the service? Describe the people, how many, what were they like? Was the crowd diverse or homogenous? Describe the people and any interactions you experience or observe and how the service made you feel. Proposal due for approval by the end of week 7 (Feb 27th)
