Comparing VPC to VLAN
A virtual Private Cloud or VPC is an isolated, secure private cloud which is basically hosted in public cloud. Here before proceeding further we have to see what are private clouds and public clouds. The public cloud is often referred to those cloud which are accessible by the customers publicly and these cloud include SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. Whereas the private cloud is one which provides services to particular community of customers, it allows the customers to use the cloud for themselves separately. The VPC allows the customers to perform multiple tasks like store data, run code, host websites or perform any other task which can be done on private cloud. Another importance of VPCs are that they combine the convenience and scalability of public cloud
differentiating with the data of private cloud. “Ensuring security is first priority”. Reference: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/6427581
Virtual Local Area Network or VLAN, the network is divided by VLAN at layer 2 which means all the devices are connected to each other. The VLAN divides the single broadcast domain into multiple broadcasts. When VLAN is created the single broadcast is divided into three different broadcasts which implies that the customer can see when a host is in accounts department tries to communicate. “This approach offers economic benefits die to supply-side economics”. The major to keep in mind between VLC and VLAN is that in VPC security is the factor atmost considerable. In VPC mostly there are private IP addresses which are not directly accessible by the customers. Whereas VLAN comes under the category of LAN which means the Local Area Network or a group of computing devices which are all connected to one another without the use of internet.
VPC VLAN: The VLAN carried over the VPC peer-link and used to communicate via VPC with a third device. The VPC VLAN is normally VLAN which is permitted on the peer-link. The VPC peer device is also called VPC member, it can be a Nexus 5000 or Nexus 7000 series switch. The VPC pair members combinedly acts as a single logical or virtual switch. The VPC domain has two VPS peer devices because only two devices can be the part of same VPC domain. The VPC member port is one of the port which basically forms the VPC. This port is methodically connected to both the Nexus mentioned above. In VPC the port which is belongs to single attached device is known as orphan port. The best thing about the VPC is that the a peer device that is attached to single connected device. A port on VPC peer device which carries the VPC VLAN. Conclusion: The difference as discussed before are major points to take into consideration further both the networks are completely different from each other on different aspects. Yet the main object is kind of same the motive is shared same by both the networks. Both are different types of technologies example VPC is a service technology but the VLAN is a subnetwork. The VPC is for private users which are technically authorised to use the service as per need whereas the VLAN group separate geographically it separates the devices to build up the good communication or the connection. Cloud Federation
The cloud federation which can also be called federated cloud is the evolution and management of different external and internal cloud computing services to fulfil the needs of business. The cloud federation is a multinational cloud system that combine private, public and community clouds into scalable computing platforms. The federated cloud or the cloud federation is made through connecting the cloud environment of different cloud supplier using a common standard.”What’s inside the cloud? An architectural map of the cloud landscape”. References: http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.682.658&rep=rep1&type=pdf
There are multiple values of cloud federation for instance the user can communicate with the architecture either centrally or in opposite way. In the centralised interaction the customer connects with a broker to mediate between them and the organisation. The other way interacts give the permission to interact directly with the clouds in the federation. The cloud federation can be run through with multiple niches like non-commercial and commercial. The transparency of a cloud federation assists the user to communicate the organisation of multiple clouds in the federal surroundings. The cloud federation can be tracked in two ways. MaaS or the Monitoring as a Service provides knowledge that aids in tracking services to the user. Also the global controlling or maintaining of aids is done by federated cloud. “Tortoises and hares: Choice among technologies of unknown merit”. References: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/5558001
The suppliers who participate in the federation produce their offers to a central organisation. The user communicates with this central organisation to verify the values and propose an offer. The merchandise objects like software, platform and infrastructure have to go through federation when absorbed in the federated cloud.
The other values of cloud federation is that it decreases the consumption of energy, it increases the reliability or in other words we can say it increases the probability that a organisation or a product or a system or service will act its intended methods properly for a specified period of time. It decreases the cost and the time of suppliers widely or globally. The suppliers may sell and buy services when required. It provides easy escalade up pf services. In cloud federation it is nearly common to get more than one supplier for processing the existing demands. In such scenarios, there must be a scheme required to distribute the upcoming requirements equally among the cloud services suppliers.
The rising requests in cloud federation have emerged in more heterogenous infrastructure , making interactivity an field of concern. It becomes a challenge for cloud customers to chose relevant cloud services suppliers and therefore, it connects them to a particular cloud service provider. A cloud federation means building a seamless cloud environment that can connect with people, multiple devices, multiple applications interfaces and other organisations. There are multiple technologies provided by the cloud federation like OpenNebula which is a cloud computing platform for be in charge of heterogenous distributed data centre infrastructures. It can take advantage of resources of its leveraging, interoperability existing technology advantages. The other technology is called Aneka coordinator which is a combination of the Aneka services and Aneka peer components which give the cloud ability and strength to connect with other cloud federation. “Vertical integration, appropriable rents, and the competitive contracting process”. Cloud SLA
A Service Level Agreement or SLA in the cloud computing is the relationship for performance negotiated between the cloud services client and the services provider. In cloud computing all Services Level Agreements were negotiated between a client and the services customer. Nowadays, with the beginning of large utility-like cloud computing suppliers, most Service Level Agreements are unit of client which turns into a large consumer of cloud services. The services level agreement are also mentioned at multiple...
