Question 1: Write three advantages and three disadvantages of ‘Packet Switching’ compared to ‘Circuit Switching’?
Advantages of Packet Switching Over Circuit Switching
Packet switching delivers the data to destination by finding this own path but circuit switching has a redefined and dedicated path.
It is reliable to use the packet switching as it is helpful in detecting the missed packets by the destination but the circuit switching has no such option.
Packet switching uses less bandwidth as the package can be routed quickly for the destination but the circuit switching need to have a dedicated bandwidth.
Disadvantages of Packet Switching Over Circuit Switching
The movement is not synchronous in the packet switching and hence it is not suitable to be used in the communication applications. On the other hand, circuit switching is suitable for such applications.
Packets do not perform movement in any organized manner. We need to add sequence number to each packet for their identification. The circuit switching allocates highest priority to the channel to provide best experience to users.
The complexity is higher at each node of because the packets have route direction for multiple paths to reach destination which leads to loss of data.
