Normal distribution is a distribution function that explains the distribution of data points for a variable. In normal distribution the majority of data points are clustered near the central point, usually the mean (Triola & Iossi, 2018). Thus, the probability of a data points close to the central point increases in normal distribution and the probability wanes as the data points move away from the central point.
A normal distribution is represented by a normal distribution curve. The area under a normal distribution curve is 1. This represents the probability that any data point in the distribution is equal to a range of all possible values in the distribution. The area under the curve is also used to determine the probabilities of a single or set of data points in the distribution. This is done by determining the area under the curve for the segment of the curve under which the data point or set of data points lies.
